Visa Requirements

NZeTA - Important New Travel Requirements for New Zealand!

An NZeTA is required for many travelers transiting through or visiting New Zealand.

The New Zealand Government has recently introduced a new travel requirement for some visitors and transit passengers. Travelers must check whether their passport will require a visa or New Zealand Travel Authority (NZeTA), in order to enter New Zealand or transit to their final destination.

The new travel authority has been operating since the start of October, meaning travelers from visa waiver countries need to request a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before they travel. New Zealand and Australian passport holders are not required to have an NZeTA as they are exempt.

The NZeTA will last for two years, or until the passport expires. The NZeTA is a legal requirement for travel to New Zealand and those who require an NZeTA for travel to or transit through New Zealand will be unable to complete check in without an NZeTA.

Customers can apply for an NZeTA on the Immigration New Zealand website or by downloading the NZeTA app for Apple or Android. Approval can take up to 72 hours, so applying quickly is encouraged. You can find out information about entry and transit visa requirements here.
